Drum Installations LTD was commissioned to transform a newly developed innovation hub in Central London through the installation of high-performance acoustic wall panels and ceiling tiles.

The goal was to create a visually striking yet acoustically balanced workspace that supports collaboration, creativity, and focused work within a high-energy environment.

To achieve this, the design incorporated bold fire-inspired colours - red, orange, and yellow - bringing energy and vibrancy to the space while simultaneously improving sound control throughout the hub.

The Challenge:

Innovation hubs are naturally high-traffic, high-energy environments, with multiple teams working, brainstorming, and collaborating at the same time.
Without proper acoustic treatment, these spaces can quickly become noisy and distracting, reducing productivity and comfort.

The key challenges for this project were:

  • Managing noise levels across open-plan areas

  • Maintaining a clean, modern design aesthetic

  • Installing panels precisely within a live commercial fit-out schedule

  • Ensuring colours and layouts aligned with the client’s branding and creative vision

Installation Process:

Our team carefully planned the installation to ensure precision alignment and seamless finishes across both vertical and overhead surfaces.

  • Key installation steps included:

  • Setting out panel layouts to maintain consistent spacing and colour patterns

  • Installing wall-mounted acoustic panels using concealed fixing systems

  • Fitting acoustic ceiling tiles to integrate with the existing ceiling grid

  • Ensuring panels aligned perfectly with lighting and architectural features

  • Working efficiently within the construction programme, the installation was completed to the highest standard while coordinating with other trades on site.

The Result:

The completed innovation hub now features a bold, energetic interior that reflects the spirit of creativity and collaboration.
The fire-inspired colour palette creates a visually engaging environment, while the acoustic treatment ensures the space remains comfortable and productive, even during busy periods.

Key outcomes include:

  • Significant reduction in background noise

  • A visually striking workspace design

  • Improved speech clarity and collaboration

  • A modern environment that inspires creativity and innovation

Winchester College, a prestigious independent school with a rich history, entrusted our team with a multifaceted project. The project encompassed two main components: the installation of acoustic baffles in St. Michael's Church and the refurbishment of two music rooms within the school. The objectives were to improve the acoustic environment of the church for various events and enhance the music learning spaces, creating an optimal learning environment for students. St. Michael's Church had long suffered from suboptimal acoustics for its diverse events, including concerts, lectures, and religious ceremonies. The reverberation time and sound reflections were issues that needed to be addressed. Additionally, the existing music rooms at Winchester College were showing signs of wear and tear, hindering the students' ability to practice and learn in an inspiring environment. For the acoustic challenges at St. Michael's Church, the customer designed and implemented a solution involving the installation of strategically placed acoustic baffles. These baffles were carefully suspended from the ceiling to reduce sound reflections, control reverberation, and improve sound quality within the church. They were designed to be unobtrusive and blend seamlessly with the church's aesthetics. In the case of the music rooms, we undertook a comprehensive refurbishment project. This involved acoustical improvements, updated soundproofing, new flooring, lighting, and modernised equipment. The goal was to create inspiring spaces where students could fully immerse themselves in their music education. St. Michael's Church: - Conducted a full site survey to feedback to the customer to ensure the design was correct and safe for the installation. - Created a metal structure within the Church's loft space to suspend the baffles in the safest way possible. - Carefully suspended the baffles at calculated heights and angles to achieve the desired acoustic and visual effect. Music Rooms Refurbishment: - Surveyed the existing conditions and identified areas in need of improvement. - Collaborated with the customer to develop a comprehensive refurbishment plan. - Implemented the plan, including acoustic panel installation, soundproofing, and the installation of new flooring, lighting, and equipment. The project yielded remarkable results, please see attached photos to find out! St. Michael's Church experienced a significant reduction in reverberation time, resulting in improved sound quality for various events. The refurbished music rooms provided students with inspiring, acoustically optimised spaces for their music education, enhancing their overall learning experience.
